This new rule is a great option for test takers who are not happy with their score in one particular section of the test. For example, if a test taker gets a

good score in Listening and Reading, but a low score in Writing, they can now retake just the Writing section without having to retake the entire test.

Your One Skill Retake score will be reported separately from your overall IELTS score. This means that you will receive two band scores, one for the

section you took again and one for your overall score.

The One Skill Retake is available for both IELTS Academic and General Training tests. It is also available in all test centers around the world

This rule was introduced in Australia in November 2022, and is effective from March 2023 in India. It is also available in other countries, but the start

date may vary.

To be eligible for the One Skill Retake, you must:

• Have taken the full IELTS test within the past two years.
• Have received a band score of 6.0 or higher in the section you want to retake.
• Pay the One Skill Retake fee.
  

The One Skill Retake fee is the same as the fee for taking the full IELTS test. You can pay the fee online or at a test center.
